Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer 3 to support network documentation, analysis, architecture, and engineering initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network infrastructure, VMware NSX, Software-Defined Networking (SDN), and network policy development.

The initial focus of this role will be assessing and documenting the existing network environment, developing comprehensive network diagrams, and identifying gaps or areas for improvement. Following this assessment, the engineer will provide ongoing network architecture and engineering support to improve network performance, reliability, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and document the existing network infrastructure, including network topology, configurations, connectivity, and dependencies.

• Develop and maintain detailed network diagrams, architecture documentation, and technical specifications.

• Assess the current network environment to identify gaps, risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.

• Develop, review, and maintain network policies, standards, and procedures.

• Support the design, implementation, and optimization of network architectures.

• Provide engineering support for VMware NSX and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) environments.

• Evaluate existing network configurations and recommend improvements to enhance performance, reliability, and security.

• Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to gather requirements and develop network solutions.

• Support network modernization efforts, including architectural enhancements and infrastructure upgrades.

• Troubleshoot complex network issues and provide recommendations for long-term resolution.

• Ensure network documentation remains accurate and current as infrastructure changes are implemented.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.

• Extensive experience in network engineering, architecture, and infrastructure support.

• Strong experience creating and maintaining detailed network diagrams and technical documentation.

• Experience developing, implementing, or maintaining network policies and standards.

• Hands-on experience with VMware NSX.

• Experience with Software-Defined Networking (SDN) concepts, technologies, and architectures.

• Strong understanding of network topology, routing, switching, and infrastructure design.

• Experience assessing existing network environments and identifying technical gaps and improvement opportunities.

• Ability to analyze complex network environments and develop practical engineering solutions.

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting large-scale or complex enterprise network environments.

• Experience with network modernization and infrastructure transformation initiatives.

• Familiarity with virtualized networking environments and software-defined infrastructure.

• Experience developing network architecture recommendations and implementation plans.

• Experience working in environments with established network security and compliance requirements.

Initial Project Priorities

Phase 1: Network Assessment and Documentation

• Review the existing network environment.

• Develop accurate network topology diagrams and supporting documentation.

• Evaluate current network policies and configurations.

• Identify architectural gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

• Document findings and recommend priorities for remediation.

Phase 2: Network Architecture and Engineering

• Provide network architecture and engineering support based on assessment findings.

• Recommend and support improvements to existing network infrastructure.

• Assist with network design, modernization, and optimization initiatives.

• Support VMware NSX and SDN-related engineering activities.

• Maintain technical documentation as changes are implemented.

The ideal candidate is a senior-level Network Engineer who combines strong technical engineering capabilities with excellent documentation and analytical skills. This individual should be comfortable evaluating an existing network environment, identifying areas for improvement, and transitioning into hands-on architecture and engineering support.
