Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Mid-Level Test Engineer to support the development, execution, and evaluation of testing activities across complex software and hardware environments in Chantilly, VA.
In this role, you will develop and execute test programs and scenarios designed to evaluate system functionality, performance, database impacts, and potential risks. You will work closely with engineering and program teams to identify defects, assess system changes, conduct regression testing, and ensure solutions meet technical and mission requirements.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with software or system testing, regression testing, test documentation, and automated testing tools within a technical engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive test programs supporting software and hardware systems.
- Create test scenarios based on system, software, and program requirements.
- Conduct functional, performance, and regression testing throughout the development lifecycle.
- Evaluate potential database and system impacts resulting from software or configuration changes.
- Perform regression testing to identify issues introduced by system modifications and enhancements.
- Analyze test results and document defects, risks, performance issues, and other findings.
- Support risk management and technical assessments associated with testing activities.
- Work alongside software and hardware development teams to support system testing and evaluation.
- Develop and maintain test plans, procedures, test results, and other technical documentation.
- Monitor system and program performance during testing activities.
- Design and develop automated testing tools and capabilities to improve efficiency, repeatability, and test coverage.
- Coordinate testing activities with engineers, developers, program leadership, and other technical stakeholders.
- Provide clear documentation and communication of test findings and recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
- 5+ years of relevant testing, systems engineering, software engineering, or related technical experience.
- Experience developing and executing software or system test programs.
- Experience developing test scenarios based on technical or program requirements.
- Hands-on experience with software testing and regression testing.
- Experience evaluating system and/or database impacts associated with technical changes.
- Experience supporting risk assessments and documenting technical findings.
- Experience developing and maintaining test plans, procedures, results, and related documentation.
- Experience analyzing and documenting test results and system performance.
- Experience identifying and documenting defects, risks, and performance issues.
- Experience designing or developing automated testing tools or capabilities.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively coordinate and communicate with technical and program stakeholders.
